This policy explains what information Finger Gun collects and uses when you play Watching Clouds, how it is shared, and the choices available to you. The service is designed to use a platform identity as proof of account access while keeping public play associated with an anonymous identifier.
1. Who we are
Watching Clouds is operated by Finger Gun (“Finger Gun,” “Watching Clouds,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). Questions and privacy requests can be sent to watchingclouds@fingergun.dev.
2. Information we collect
Platform identity and account mapping
When you sign in through Apple Game Center or Google Play Games, the platform provides identity proof and a platform-specific player identifier. We use that proof to authenticate you and map the platform identifier to an internal anonymous Watching Clouds ID. We do not publish your platform identifier as part of community activity. Apple and Google process information under their own privacy policies.
Game and community records
We process information needed to provide the game, including:
- procedurally generated, player-authored cloud snapshots and the interpretations attached to them;
- clouds you viewed, your interpretations and guesses, elapsed time, scores, skips, and related round results;
- leaderboard entries and creator statistics, such as how often a cloud is played or recognized; and
- sync records used to keep game progress and state consistent across supported sessions or devices.
Support and operations
If you contact us, we receive the message, contact details you provide, and any related support communications. Our AWS-hosted service also produces CloudWatch operational logs, which may include request times, service events, error details, and technical identifiers needed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service.
Purchases and advertising
Watching Clouds may offer a one-time Premium purchase to remove advertising and may offer optional cosmetic items. The free experience may show restrained ads only between natural transitions. Store or platform providers process purchases, payment credentials, receipts, and refunds. We may receive purchase status, product, transaction, and entitlement information needed to unlock and restore purchases. Advertising providers may process limited device, ad-delivery, and interaction information to display and measure ads, limit repetition, and prevent fraud.
3. How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- authenticate players and maintain the anonymous account mapping;
- deliver creation, solving, scoring, sync, leaderboards, and creator statistics;
- moderate community content and enforce fair play;
- provide support, diagnose errors, secure the service, and prevent abuse;
- administer purchases, entitlements, and advertising; and
- understand service health and improve game operation and design.
Depending on where you live, our legal bases may include performing our agreement with you, our legitimate interests in operating and protecting the service, complying with law, and consent where required.
4. How information is shared
We share information only as reasonably needed:
- With other players: authored cloud snapshots, associated interpretations where revealed through play, guesses or results where the game presents them, leaderboard information, and creator statistics may be visible through community features under an anonymous game identity.
- With service providers: AWS hosts the service and CloudWatch stores operational logs. Vendors working for us may process information under instructions appropriate to their role.
- With platform providers: Apple Game Center and Google Play Games support identity and game-platform features; app stores process purchases and refunds.
- For safety or legal reasons: we may disclose information where reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, investigate abuse, or support a business reorganization.
Our service providers may process information in countries other than yours. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
5. Retention
We retain account mappings, game records, sync data, and community content for as long as reasonably needed to provide and protect the service, maintain community history, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. Operational logs and support records are kept for periods appropriate to security, troubleshooting, and support. Retention periods may vary by record and may be extended where preservation is legally required.
6. Deletion and your choices
You may request access, correction, deletion, or other rights available in your region by emailing watchingclouds@fingergun.dev. We may need to verify your request.
When an account deletion is completed, we remove the mapping between your platform identity and the anonymous Watching Clouds ID. Authored interpretations and game results are anonymized rather than necessarily removed so that shared cloud rounds, scores, moderation records, and aggregate community integrity can remain coherent without being linked back to your platform identity. We remove or anonymize other personal information unless retention is reasonably necessary or legally required. Copies may persist temporarily in backups and logs until they cycle out.
You can control platform permissions through Apple or Google settings. Purchase and refund requests are generally handled by the store that processed the payment. Advertising choices, where offered by your device or platform, can be managed in those settings.
7. Children
Watching Clouds is not directed to children below the minimum age required to consent to online services in their location without parent or guardian involvement. If you believe a child has provided personal information contrary to applicable requirements, contact us so we can review the situation.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect information. No system, transmission, or storage method can be guaranteed completely secure.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the game, vendors, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy here with a new “Last updated” date and provide additional notice where appropriate.
